This unregistered and unregulated website tries to lure customers by appearing similar to a real authorized law firm or legal practice.

The SRA reports of a fraudulent email claiming to be from a legal assistant at a genuine firm of solicitors regarding a conveyancing transaction. The email, sent from a ‘@cplaws.co.uk’ address, misused the firm’s name, logo, and address, and requested the recipient transfer funds to an unrelated bank account.

“Cloning” means they copy a real law firm’s website, or identity, sometimes verbatim. To the untrained eye, the copy can look as real as the genuine website they are copying.
