Fraudulent emails are being sent to businesses using the stolen identity of a real solicitor and law firm, falsely claiming that a third party is trying to register their business name as a trademark. These messages come from a bogus domain, reference genuine firm details, and attempt to lure recipients into taking “next steps” for supposed UKIPO registration.

“Cloning” means they copy a real law firm’s website, or identity, sometimes verbatim. To the untrained eye, the copy can look as real as the genuine website they are copying.
